Trauma

Is your trauma holding you back?

Something serious happened and it continues to haunt you. Maybe it was a single event or maybe it was several things separately. In either case, you still feel emotional and physical effects from it, and it’s keeping you from being who you want to be.

You carry a heavy burden, the weight of which is indescribable. You’re seeing the impact in your life in some of these ways:

  • You’re regularly reminded of what happened
  • Sleeping soundly through the night is impossible
  • You’re always on edge or easily startled
  • Anger and sadness come on suddenly and severely
  • You feel like you can’t trust anyone, and you pull away

Therapy will help you...

  • Figure out why this is happening
  • Identify what you can control and change that
  • Learn how to be less affected by what you can’t control
  • Learn to trust again and rebuild relationships
  • Feel free and at peace once again

You don't have to be weighed down anymore.

Reach out and I’ll work with you to get through this, focusing directly on you and your needs.

We’ll figure out exactly what’s going on and the best way to work through it so it stops controlling your life. Together we’ll set up a plan for the future and you’ll learn ways to take finally control of your trauma instead of it taking control of you.

I base my approach to trauma on evidence-based treatments that meet your needs. If you feel that you need to tell your story and work through it, I utilize Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy or Written Exposure Therapy (WET). If you feel like you need better control and skills, I utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). No matter the approach, you’ll learn how to identify when your trauma might be trying to take control again, and you’ll know how to beat it back. That means you become your own therapist once we finish, confidently able to handle things on your own.
